The Red Ace Card

The Red Ace is a combination of the energies of hearts and diamonds, where emotions and practicality fight for balance. Stronger than either of the red Aces, more emotional than the black Aces, don’t wait too long when you see it.

The Cartomancy Aces are most often welcomed in a draw, as they inspire newness in many aspects: growth, challenges, ideas, love, opportunities, perspectives… New everything! They are usually seen as positive, if you are ready for change or to see things with a new vision. Aces are the root force, the spark or seed of the suit. They have no purpose yet, but are filled with raw potential. They are the active energy of the suit ready to be used. They can also indicate compass direction or season. They represent the seed of potential, the potential of what could happen next, because it hasn’t yet fully manifested. And within any Cartomancy reading, the Aces show us that possibility. It’s up to us to turn it into something further.

When this card appears reversed, it indicates a need for new experiences and perspectives and even new input into the way you think about and function with your spirituality. Its okay (and in fact, its desirable and healthy) for your spiritual approaches and thoughts to change over time. Try new things. Talk to people who see things differently than you do. You will both benefit.

To encounter The Red Ace in your cards is to encounter a great unity and wholeness. It symbolizes the moment when the inner and the outer worlds – self and other – become a single entity. In some traditions, this state is described as enlightenment, or nirvana. There is a recognition that the individual self is profoundly linked with all other things and that we all dance and sway along the flow of life to one rhythm. Not only do you hear this rhythm, but you participate in it – following the dips and the rises, the joys and the sorrows.

Reversed Meanings: burden, lack of vision, imperfection, lack of achievement, disappointment, lack of success, stagnation

You are drawing near to something that marks the end of a journey or an era. You may have many accomplishments that have lined your path, but there is a strange emptiness that fills you when you look backwards upon it, as if you have all the pieces but they are not coming together. What is missing? Do you feel connected to what you’re doing? Do you feel connected to others? What alienates you from feeling complete? From feeling whole?
