The Herbalist Past Life

The Herbalist reminds us that the truly wonderful thing about being alive is that it allows us access to a wealth of different emotions – of course, we sometimes wish it didn’t, particularly when we are hurting – yet this hugely flexible resource of response is one of our most valuable treasures. Herbalists survived (or not) on their reputation and their ability to quickly assess the situation.

The Herbalist is about learning how to find contentment with an open heart which is ready to receive, and freely allow the passage of emotion through it. Too often, we fail to enter the moment, and instead, stand on the threshold of life. The Herbalist challenges us to cross that threshold, and flow with the river of knowledge which is always available to us.

Medicine in the Medieval World was often directly related to horticulture. Herbs, fruits and vegetables were related to health and well being, and the herbalist would shape the diagnosis and treatment for each patient with an holistic approach. Imports offered herbalists of the middle ages access to new and different remedies for treating illness, sometimes with disastrous results as many chose mainly potent, fast-acting herbs.

The Middle Ages were an uncertain time for the practice of medicine. The restrictions from the church and the dangerous treatments administered resulted in the unsuccessful treatment of many ailments and a high mortality rate among those who fell ill. Not all herbalists were reputable. Many sold remedies and cures that were a mixture of superstition, religion and herbs, having no expectation of a good outcome.

An upright card generally means some or all lessons have been learned from the past life but look to see if you are carrying feeling of guilt for people or situations you couldn’t save. A tendency to do that means you are not letting others progress on their own life path, learning from their own mistakes.
