Victoria was Queen of England from 1837 until her death in 1901, an epic reign of 63 years. During her reign Victoria was instrumental in industrial expansion, educational advances, the abolition of slavery and improvements in workers welfare.

Victoria’s youth was dominated by strict rules which included sharing a room with her mother and having no time alone. The Queen hated childbirth and suffered postnatal depression. Despite this she had nine children with Albert over 16 years. She also shaped a new age of the Royal Family, reconnecting it with the public through her civic duties.

The British monarch survived a number of assassination attempts over the course of her life. Despite the chaos and fear that followed these many assassination attempts, Victoria became more and more popular with the public after each attempt.
